There are some amazing creatures that live in our beautiful world.
- The barreleye fish is just one of them.It lives 600 – 800 metres down and has a transparent head. Its eyes look upwards through the head on long lenses that end in silvery green eyes. It is thought that this helps them to track their prey.
- The mantis shrimp is four inches long with big bright eyes. It is also very dangerous. Its clubs can break the shells of prey with a force equivalent to a .22 calibre bullet. It is also in the Guinness Book of Records as having the most powerful punch of any animal.
- What about the headless chicken monster? Unkindly called this by scientists, the enypniastes eximia is a deep-sea cucumber. It does not have a true brain or sensory organs. It filters sediment from the ocean floor and is transparent and about nine inches long.
