It's National Storytelling Week from the 1st to 9th February and this year's them is to Reimagine Your World.
They suggest you look for something unexpected in the world around you, such as "odd sounds you
hear at night, or a path you’ve never followed, the world around us is
full of secret lives, places and possibilities. The most extraordinary
story can come from the most ordinary place: it just needs someone to
find it."
Give it a go, try walking around your local area and look at places that you have never really paid attention to. For example -
- The door in a wall that you have never seen inside.
- A path you have never walked along - What is at the end of the path? Who will you meet? Is it a magical land or a castle or a large field of horses?
- A boarded up house - Why is it boarded up? What happened in the house? Is there a story? Is it haunted?
- What is that noise at night? Your boiler? A fox? A door banging? The milkman walking down to your house?
Just pay attention to what people say, what you see, what you hear, what you smell and use it to create a story.
