Growing & Knowing Eucalypts- PDF Ebook
Look Inside
Get to know more about Eucalypts with the 'Growing and Knowing Eucalypts' ebook, which is a comprehensive guide to Eucalypts. The ebook will help you to understand the different classifications and varieties of Eucalypts. This ebook has 207 pages of information about Eucalypts and wonderful photographs to help you learn more about Eucalypts.
There are so many varieties of Eucalypts and many different characteristics such as- lignotubers, foliage, flowers, fruit & growth habit. Originally, when first named in 1789, all Eucalypts were classified into the same genus; “Eucalyptus”. In 1797 seven of the species (all native to NSW or Qld) were split off and placed in a different genus that was given the name “Angophora”. More recently, another split has been made to separate a large number of species into a third genus "Corymbia" (though there is arguably some controversy surrounding this reclassification)
The main and most obvious differences:
- Eucalyptus: flowers have no petals; flower buds have an operculum (i.e. cap).
- Angophora: flowers have tiny petals; flower buds have no operculum.
- Corymbia and Angophora flowers occur on corymbs where flower stalks develop from different levels on the stem.
There are around 800 species of Eucalypts known to exist, and acknowledged by at least some experts; although the overall classification and naming of Eucalypt species has been, and continues to be uncertain.
This ebook looks at the classification of Eucalypts, the differentiating characteristics, the cultivation of Eucalypts, Angophora, Bloodwoods and Ghost Gums and Eucalyptus.
